Spammers

I've really learned to appreciate the blog sites, especially the ones that limit the spam that can be put in the comments section.

I guess in a perfect world people would respect the space of others.

So, I spend part of my already busy day removing spam "comments" from my blog.

I wonder if these people who do the spamming don't have anything else to do in life but cause extra work and irritation to others.

You may be wondering what this has to do with the actual content of my blog posts. I think alot.

People who do things dishonestly like spam are creating a lot of negative for themselves. They will never be truly rich for any length of time because the money they do happen to make from this "line of work" will always be gone before they know it.

That's just how things work. What you send out comes back to you. In this case the negative will come back to them in many forms.

I hope at some point they will realize that it's not worth the ultimate price they are paying.

Labor Day and Stuff

Ah, Labor Day weekend!

Last ditch effort to get out and enjoy the nice weather, friends, and good food!

Go camping, biking, hiking, swimming, boating, and a million other things . . . with a million other people jockeying for the same things.

Nothing wrong with spending time with loved ones and having a little fun. I just wonder why people don't do it more often.

I mean why do it on the same weekend as everyone else?

I don't think it's a matter of having the day off work.

If you've worked at a place for any length of time, you'll have days saved up, right?

So, if you just started a job and have no vacation days, then why not do something on your regular days off?

I just can't seem to figure out this holiday thing where people wait to do stuff until a holiday.

Why not spend time with your parents or friends any old weekend?

What's keeping you from having a nice homecooked meal whenever you can instead of waiting for Thanksgiving or Mothers Day?

I think people would be so much happier if they spent more time doing things that are fun or meaningful.

After all, it's not the job we have regrets about when we lose someone.

It's the time we spent (or did not spend) with them.

Frustrations Galore

Hey, I know it's not a news flash or anything, but don't you just get tired of your job some days?

I mean I've worked places where things went a little sideways every now and then. Then I've worked with and for people that simply drove me crazy no matter how often I gave myself attitude adjustments.

Can you relate?

I guess after having those days at work I begin to wonder what the heck I'm doing there in the first place. I used to think it was just the management or the workers. I believed if I found a better job at a better place things would be better . . . maybe even great.

But I've had a few jobs in my life so far and I've come to learn that bad management and lazy workers are everywhere. It seems to be getting worse as time goes by.

Why is that? What can we do?

I believe the best course of action is to set the example.

Show by your words and actions the standard.

Yeah, some people will despise you for it because it makes them look bad, but at least you'll feel good about yourself and your contribution.

Some days it won't make the situation any more tolerable, but you'll be able to rest well at night knowing you did your part.

Personally I don't like to stay at a company where I'm constantly struggling with "drama" and steps to correct are ineffective. I like to be happy, not stressed out all the time.

So, the point being, when do you know when it's time to go?

And when that time comes, will you?

It's Been Some Time

Since I last posted on my blog here.

Not sure why. I seem to keep up my two other blogs pretty well.

Anyway . . .

I am reading a book by Raphael Cushnir about seven invitations to set your heart on fire. It's about really communicating and living life to the fullest by opening yourself to experience emotions, love, questioning beliefs and a variety of other things.

One of the passages that has really stuck with me is asking yourself questions to determine if you've really tried your best in a relationship. I think sometimes we say we've tried, but we really just got discouraged or gave up somewhere along the way for whatever reasons.

I think this is so important.

To be able to look back and say that you did your best.

Have no regrets.

Have learned and grown from the experience.

And know physically whether it is best to move on or continue to work at making the partnership better.

This Memorial Day

I wonder if most people know why they have a day off on Memorial Day (if you do).

Or what exactly this holiday is for.

Do you know?

It's to remember those who went before us.

Shaped us, guided us, and helped us through tough times.

To pay our respects.

Being a veteran, this holiday is for me to honor my Brothers and Sisters.

Those who went before me.

Those who served with me.

And those who still serve.

My thoughts go back to September 11th.

My co-worker and I were veterans, so our boss asked us to lower the flag to half staff.

I remember tears rolling down my face.

Because of what had happened.

Because of what I knew would happen in the near future.

Someone had to answer for it.

Someone would be on the receiving end of retaliation.

And I knew many of my Brothers and Sisters still serving would be called.

And they would answer the call as they had sworn to do.

Many would never come home.

So I cried.

For the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, grandma's and grandpa's that wouldn't come home.

I wonder if people really know what this war is about.

I think we thought we did early on.

But now, I'm not sure.

I just know I'm tired.

Tired of the news telling me of another Brother or Sister who was killed.

Tired of seeing the flag at half staff.

Tired of feeling like no one is listening.

How do we know when something like war is right or just?

I don't think we have to read the paper or listen to people on the TV.

All we have to do is listen to the inside first.

There is where the answer is.

So, this Memorial Day I pay my respects to those who've gone before.

To those who still serve.

To those who return broken.

To those who never came home.

Would you do me a favor this Memorial Day?

While you're paying your respects, say a prayer for our military.

Say a prayer for our country.

It's about more than just Bar-BQ and a day off.

Time Off for Family Stuff

Writing in my blog has been slack the last month or so.

Seems there has been so much going on.

It gets to the point where I can't get half the stuff done I need to.

A new job.

Family matters.

Post family matters.

Do I have to clean my apartment at least once a month?

Ok, it should be every week.

I delay doing laundry for 2 weeks.

Thank goodness I have enough clothes to last that long.

When it comes down to it, we do what we can with whatever is going on.

We do the important stuff first, then deal with the rest if there is time.

I think it's a good way to reduce our stress just a little.

"Don't sweat the small stuff".

I guess I finally realize what that quote really means.

Death Penalty Thoughts

I've always done my best to leave good tips and advice about different subjects on my blog. Those things that happen most every day that can be real irritants. Suggestions on ways to look at the bright side or handle a nasty situation or change your life.

Well, I've had a long time to think on the death penalty. I guess we don't really think about it much unless someone asks us what we think. Let's face it. It's not exactly party small talk.

I just wanted to share with each of you what I've learned about the death penalty (or the conclusions I've come to) after having been directly affected by it for over 10 years.

I learned that my beliefs about the death penalty and my religious/spiritual beliefs were in direct opposition to one another. I decided to go with my spiritual beliefs.

I think most people have not looked at that side of the death penalty when making their opinion be known.

I learned that I don't understand a darn thing about how our justice system works.

I mean, how could a child who was abused mentally, emotionally, and physically not have a mental health problem? If that child has a mental health problem, how could a state give him the death penalty?

I experienced a living example of hypocrisy by watching people who say they are Christians give someone a death penalty sentence. I'm confused here quite a bit. Doesn't the Bible say "Thou shall not kill"? I still have no real answers or logic for this one.

So, on April 26th the State of Texas will execute a man who was convicted of murder. A man they say had no mental health problems though he was abused in many ways as a child. At 16 he was tried as an adult with no mental health diagnosis.

I guess my advice would be to do what you can to ease their last days. Hope there won't be another like him afterward who is sentenced to die. Or better yet, let's all do our best to ensure prevention of child abuse. Stop the cycle and the havoc it brings.

Thank you for listening.
